Camera, Code Geass, and more...

Mon Jun 22, 2009, 10:48 AM
Ok, ok, I get it: there hasn't been a journal entry in months. Well, here it is, and I'm not going to talk about my creative endeavors much because they've kind of stagnated recently. But some other great stuff has been going on, so I might as well talk about it.

-My first determined effort to watch an anime from beginning to end was several months ago (feels like a lifetime ago!) when I watched Trigun all the way through on Youtube. I swore to make the second full anime run-through be G Gundam, but some bad uploads left me a bit disheartened, so I switched to Gundam Wing. However, what I'm really here to talk about is that I've been using our new family iMac to watch the first seasons of 00 Gundam (the newest Gundam series) and Code Geass on Bandai's official Youtube channel. I would like to extend particular praise to the latter for its deep plot and characters, exciting pacing, reasonable mecha action, great art style, and (at least in my opinion) all-around good dub. For everyone who hasn't taken a look at it, I urge you to at least try it and if you don't like it, fine. But it's one of the best recently released animes out there, so have a look. And if you're a fan, let me take this opportunity to remind you that as of writing this, I'm not done watching it yet, so don't spoil anything for me yet!

-For my graduation present, I got a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XS...for those of you not in the know, that's a right proper digital camera! I've just been testing it out and even in full auto mode, it's fantastic. Finally, the gap between my photographic vision and reality is removed! Finally, I have a camera that operates so quickly and smoothly, it's like an extension of my own body! Finally,-

(Ok, I'll stop. You get the point)

-I've also been watching a show on Animal Planet called Whale Wars, and it's probably the most exciting, interesting reality TV out there right now. It follows this group of fairly radical conservationists who actually go after the Japanese whaling fleet in the Antarctic area and try to stop them from killing whales. By throwing stink bombs and slippery stuff onto their ships. Not kidding. It's amusing, but also genuinely exciting (like an action movie, but real) and certainly thought-provoking. Fridays at 8...check it out...

-Also, I'm reading 1984 again...by far, one of the most depressing books I've ever read. If you haven't read it (or Animal Farm), go out and do so. It's beautifully written but not difficult to read.

  • Mood: Cheerful
  • Reading: 1984, for the second or third time
  • Watching: Code Geass, 00 Gundam, Whale Wars, Kings

Thank you, in some ways neither did I! I was kind of embarrassed at the way she worded it. Of course, there's a reason I'm quiet in class...if I don't know the proper conjugation of a word or the right word for something, I'm not just going to blurt something out. So I come off as quieter, I guess.

Hey there, cheers very much for the fave! :)
Hello there! Guess what musical they're doing at my school this year...Urinetown! After hearing so much about it (and essentially 'watching it without watching it' on the internet, plus owning the soundtrack), I can't wait to actually see it.
